A Pink Gown {ClassyGarb}

The back of the dress
(Sorry I'm posting this Monday morning rather than Sunday!)

I love to sew. I think some of the classiest dresses I've ever seen were handmade! :-D I do have a sewing machine, so it was not *handsewn*, but this was completely done by me. :-) It was made with 3 modified patterns to become one pattern! I also added a detachable belt, but that doesn't show up in these pictures. :-)

Unfortunately, I forgot to time it, so I have no idea how long it actually took me to sew this! :-P

I just adore the button!

It's so swishy!

So, there's my dress! I love it so much, and feel incredibly classy in it. :D Now I just need some pearls and gloves to finish the look!

Fantasy Portrait {Product Review}

Hello everyone! I'm thinking about starting something new, of sorts. What do ya'll think about some blog posts about bedrooms? As in, the decoration, organization, etc of them? My room needs some work, and I thought it might be a nice thing to talk about.

 So far on this blog we've mostly focused on clothing, inner modesty, and spiritual encouragement. There have been several clothing reviews, but today I'm going to do a fun review. One of our own writers, Joanna Marie, asked if someone would like to review a cartoon fantasy drawing created by herself. I thought it sounded neat, so I agreed.

 I'm sure, in some form or another, every girl loves art. Some enjoy creating it, some enjoy simply looking at it. Art is a beautiful thing that God gave to us, whether we have the knack for it, or we just admire it. Art is drawing God's creation. I have different pieces of artwork in my bedroom; some drawn by friends, maybe a few of my own. I can't wait to add this Joanna Marie piece to my collection.

Here's the front of the package. As you can see I got a little excited and starte to take the tape off before the photo was taken. :)

 I think it was really creative of Joanna to draw the back like an envelope, don't you?

 Now... for the unveiling...

Photo taken from Joanna's Marie's facebook page.
 I'd say the actual drawing is darker like the top photo which I took. But isn't it lovely? This is supposed to be me, and she did a great job catching my hair and eye color. In order to have the photo done, I sent her some photos of myself, and told her what animal/weapon I'd like to have. She did a fantastic job. I wasn't sure what to expect in the beginning, but Joanna more than proved her quality of workmanship. I really love it, and can't wait to frame it and hang it on my wall. Also, I love the medieval looking dress she drew. <3

 She even sent a lovely what I'm sure is handmade card! Isn't it pretty?

  All in all, I'm very happy about Joanna's work. I like it, and so do members of my family, so those are extra points! If you'd like to look into getting your own fantasy portrait done, check here.

Or if you want to see her other work which includes really cool Hobbit, and Superhero plates, drawings, and paintings, check out her Etsy shop!

I hope you've enjoyed this review. God bless!

The Beginning of Classy

What is the beginning of being classy? Liking yourself. Enjoying your appearance rather than inwardly tearing yourself down.
I think this is an important thing to realize and to take to heart.

Too often it seems that young women have much more that they dislike about themselves than what they like. Did you realize God gave you your hair color? Your eye shape? Your height? Your hand size?

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. Psalm 139:13

Why then do we feel the desire to hate things about ourselves? Every part of you is unique to YOU. There will always be someone prettier, thinner, taller, better dressed, etc.
The physical comparisons need to stop!

Learn to embrace your natural beauty. Your curly hair, your crooked eyebrows, your bumpy knees, your long fingers, your stubby toes.

Classy is confidence. You cannot have confidence if you dislike yourself, if you feel like you need to hide yourself, whether with makeup, long hair, drab clothing, flamboyant clothing, whatever it may be! God has made you with a purpose, a plan.

Be confident. Be classy. :-)

A picture I drew in 2009. I felt it was appropriate here. :-)

Royal + Classy: A Purple Dress {ClassyGarb}

So, I figured today I would do an outfit post, because I got a lovely new outfit about a week ago. :-) Anyways, I had won a $60 gift card to Mod Cloth, so I bought the "Rebecca to Basics" dress, and the "Winding My Way" heel.

I do love to wear jeans for my general, everyday wear, but I love the feeling of skirts and dresses when I wear them. In heels, I feel kind of stately and classy. :-D

The dress and shoes are actually different shades of purple, so this "photoshoot" is probably the only time I'll ever wear them together. :-)

Love love love the silver stripe on the heels!!! They are a suede plum material, and so far fit pretty comfortably.

I added another shirt underneath because the V opening dips pretty low. All in all though, it's a fantastic dress that I feel great in!

Now, I usually don't spend large amounts of money on new clothing, but I do enjoy making my own dresses when I can find a good deal on fabric, or have an especially strong inspiration for a particular dress. The second is what I am currently working on... It will end up being a pretty expensive dress, all told, but incredibly worth it!

A little peek at my inspiration:

Do you ever make your own clothes? What is your favorite type of clothing to make?

Something Of An Obsession

I am rather obsessed with polka dots. Honestly, there is nearly nothing so timelessly classy as polka dots. This post is going to be more photos than text, simply because I think polka dots are so lovely and inspirational... that I want to spread that inspiration around. :-)

Every girl should have at least one polka dot gown in their closet! Mine is made of blue denim and is sort of 40s style.

Me in my polka dot dress! I love it.

So very classy!

I love huge polka dots!

Yellow polka dots.

Deliciously polka dotty shoes.

Beautifully polka dotted shoes.

Lovely spotted hat!

The polka dots really just add to this already lovely photo.

Closely set dots.

Asymmetrical polka dots!

Dotted nails.

Polka dot hairpieces are always lovely.

Possibly my favorite pair of shoes that I have ever seen.

My favorite polka dot dress photo. :-D

And there you have it! Now, go get yourself some polka dots!
